Good afternoon. As I mentioned in my last email, beginning tomorrow (Thursday, Feb. 16), PSNC Energy will perform a major natural gas line relocation that is necessary as part of the upcoming construction projects. The work is expected to last approximately two weeks and will entail intermittent one-lane closures on Founders Drive. Parking will be blocked on the left-hand side of the road (P21) going uphill.
Following completion of the gas line relocation on Founders Drive, similar work will begin on University Heights resulting in intermittent one-lane road closures starting at the traffic circle on W.T. Weaver and working up University Heights to the three-way intersection at University Heights near the pollinator garden (G9 on maps.unca.edu). This work will continue until Spring Break begins on March 13.
During the week of Spring Break (3.13 – 3.17), there will be a one-lane road closure on University Heights and closure of on-road parking from Vance Hall to the three-way intersection at the top of the hill of University Heights. The entire lane will not be closed but rather a moving closure of sporadic areas. However it may be necessary to close all parking on one side of the road.
