Good afternoon. As we continue through the initial stages of construction around campus, you may have noticed crews walking the streets and sidewalks painting lines as they go. These crews are marking underground utilities that we will be avoiding, tieing into, or relocating during the upcoming construction projects.
Over the weekend, crews started digging small holes in specific areas to determine the depth of underground utilities in critical areas along University Heights. This work will continue for the next two weeks and is in preparation for the installation of a new natural gas main that will be installed up University Heights and around the University Heights loop.
Installation will start tomorrow morning, Tuesday, February 28. On this day, a portion of the traffic circle on W.T. Weaver will be closed for construction. The traffic circle will remain open but traffic heading south on University Heights, towards W.T. Weaver Boulevard, will be directed west towards Broadway. East and west bound traffic on W.T. Weaver Boulevard will not be impacted. Please see the Traffic Circle Redirection map for more details. There will be flaggers stationed at the traffic circle to allow uninterrupted operation of Asheville Regional Transit system. The traffic circle should reopen for normal operation Tuesday evening.
If you have questions regarding construction, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or contact campus operations at 828.251.6564.
