3.10.17 Campus Update

Good afternoon.  During the week of Spring Break (3/13 - 3/17) we will continue the installation of the natural gas line along University Heights.  This will impact accessibility on University Heights as well as parking and sidewalks around Highsmith Union. (Please see attached image Work Over Spring Break.pdf

University Heights will have intermittent lane closures until they make the connection to the existing natural gas line in front of Highsmith Union.

Monday through Wednesday (3/13 - 3/15) parking lot P24 will be unavailable, and the south entrances to parking lots P25 and P26 will be blocked.  Please note the northern entrances to P25 and P26 will be open.  Parking in front of Highsmith Union (with the exception of the accessible spaces) will be unavailable Wednesday and Thursday (3/16 - 3/17), and the sidewalk between Highsmith Union and Mills Hall will be closed.  We will be doing some water main work at Brown Hall alongside Admissions which will impact the sidewalk Wednesday through Friday (3/15 - 3/17).  Faculty and staff may walk around the closures, or may use the elevator in Brown Hall to access Admissions.

We are anticipating the traffic circle to be partially closed again on Friday, March 17th for further gas line work.  Please see the attached image WT Weaver-Traffic Circle-Redirection of Traffic2.pdf.

Our Grounds Crew will be removing a dead spruce at Phillips Hall, a dead locust tree at the corner of University Heights and Edgewood Road.  There is also a large oak tree in Governors Village that may be removed during Spring Break.  Other trees will be pruned around Zageir Hall to remove over-hanging branches from the roof.

A City of Asheville waterline was moved as part of the on-campus Vivian Street parking lot, and final connections were completed March 8.  Grading of the roadway has resumed, with curbing and paving scheduled for early April.
